Vanessa K. Ridaura, Ph.D., is Senior Program Officer for Microbiome Products at the Gates Foundation, where she leads strategies to develop microbiome- and food-based interventions that improve maternal, neonatal, and gastrointestinal health outcomes globally. She earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Genomics from Washington University in St. Louis, studying the role of the gut microbiome in human health and disease, and completed postdoctoral training at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Prior to joining the Gates Foundation, Vanessa held scientific leadership roles at Verily Life Sciences and Novome Biotechnologies, advancing innovative microbiome-based therapeutics.
